Highway Deisgn


1. State Route 125 Widening, Village of Amelia, Clermont County, Ohio

The project included widening of approximately ½ Mile section of State Route 125 within the jurisdiction of Village of Amelia, Ohio. The project was completed to widen State Route 135 to 5-lane section, including widening for the turn lane at intersection. The project also included addition of a new traffic signal at the intersection of State Route and Access Drive for the new shopping center, west of the intersection of State Route 125 and Amelia-Olive Branch Road. Also, the existing signal at the intersection of State Route 125 and Amelia Olive Branch road was modified.

The project was designed at with expedited schedule is construction is expected to be complete by end of year 2012.


2. Roundabout at the intersection of Millikin Road and Mauds Hughes Road, Butler County, Ohio

The project includes installation of a single lane modern roundabout at the intersection of Millikin Road and Mauds Hughes Road, located in Liberty Township, Butler County, Ohio. The two streets under the existing conditions operating at high speed with 55 mph on Millikin Road and 45 mph posted on Mauds Hughes Road. The project will modify the existing 4-way stop control at the intersection to a single lane roundabout, improving the safety and traffic flow through the intersection. The biggest challenges on the projects were impact on the existing overhead electric and telephone facilities and to limit the impact on adjacent properties.

The project construction was completed in summer of 2014.


3. Roundabout at the intersection of State Route 748 and Layhigh Road, Butler County, Ohio

The project includes installation of a single lane modern roundabout at the intersection of State Route 748 and Layhigh Road, located in Ross Township, Butler County, Ohio. Since the proposed roundabout is on State Route ODOT district 08 is also involved in the review and approval of construction plans for the project. The two streets under the existing conditions operating at high speed with 55 mph on State Route 748 Road and 45 mph posted on Layhigh Road. The project is designed using ODOT standards and specifications. The project will modify the existing 4-way stop control at the intersection to a single lane roundabout, improving the safety and traffic flow through the intersection. The project will require relocation of overhead utilities.

The project is scheduled for construction in Fall of 2015.
